The partnership between Activision, Bungie, and PlayStation has been very evident with the marketing of the upcoming game, Destiny. Although the game is set to release on multiple platforms on September 9th, 2014, the majority of the marketing focus is for the game on PS4. With the PS4 exclusive alpha, the early access PlayStation beta, the PS4 Destiny bundle, and the exclusive Destiny content coming to the PlayStation platforms, it’s no doubt that this relationship is working on Sony’s favor.
However, as with most “exclusive” content these days, the Destiny content is only a timed exclusive for the PlayStation brand. Today, Bungie has revealed how long that deal has been struck for. With the information given about the upcoming Destiny collector’s editions, Bungie also revealed that the PlayStation exclusive content will be exclusive for just a period of time.
In the press release about the collector’s edition and beta, this information was also included:
PlayStation platforms will also include additional exclusive content for Expansion I and II and will remain exclusive until at least Fall of 2015
So there you have it. For at least one year, PlayStation will hold on to that exclusive content. The content includes some maps, weapons, ships, and vanity items – which haven’t been fully revealed yet, but were discussed a little bit on the Official PlayStation Blog, which can be found here: Destiny’s PlayStation Exclusive Content Detailed.
For those of you who will be getting the game, what platform will you be playing on? How do you feel about the exclusive content? Sound off in the comments below!
