5 Alternatives To Monster Hunter on Vita

Capcom has recently revealed that they have no plans on bringing the hit Monster Hunter franchise back to a PlayStation handheld. If you were one of those looking to play a new Monster Hunter game on your shiny PlayStation Vita, well it looks like your wishes will not be fulfilled any time soon. No doubt, this has upset some fans of the series who only own PlayStation hardware. After all, Monster Hunter started out on PlayStation and found a niche audience on the PlayStation Portable. Still, one would recommend, if you want to play a new Monster Hunter game that badly, invest in a Nintendo 3DS or Wii U. Those systems are home not only to new and future Monster Hunter games, but a host of other great games as well. However, if you’re not willing or able to get a 3DS or Wii U – and you’re sticking with your Vita, I have a list of some monster hunting games on the Vita that are not Monster Hunter. Here’s a list of some alternative Vita games that you can play instead of Monster Hunter.

God Eater 2

Official Site: God Eater (Japan)

Phantasy Star Online 2

Official Site: Phantasy Star Online 2 (North America), Phantasy Star Online 2 (Japan)

 Official Site: Toukiden (Japan)

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace

Official Site: Ragnarok Odyssey (North America), Ragnarok Odyssey Ace (Japan)

Soul Sacrifice

Official Site: Soul Sacrifice (North America), Soul Sacrifice (Japan)

Although most of this list consists of games for Japan, some have already been confirmed for Western releases, while others are very likely to be released internationally as well. Considering that Vita game cards are region free, you are also able to import these games.

Were you one of those looking forward to playing a Monster Hunter game on your Vita? If so, are you going to play Monster Hunter on another system instead? Or will you be looking forward to these or other games? Sound off in the comments below!

  1. pathetic :-C

  2. Soul Sacrifice on Vita is much, much better than Monster Hunter on 3DS – I’ve played both. MH’s controls are horrible, visuals are meh, and has no story to speak of. SS is the complete opposite

    • Hahahah so much denial. Soul sacrifice is a completely different game, can’t be compared AT ALL to Monster Hunter and nowhere near as fun.
