First DLC For PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: Kat and Emmett

PlayStation’s brawler mash-up, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, is set to launch in a few days with a roster of 20 characters. There are a good number of first party games represented in the line-up, but it never hurts to have more, right? Fans have been voicing their opinions and wanted lists all over the web, “Who we want to see in PlayStation All-Stars!” Well, if your picks didn’t make the cut for the game’s initial roster, there may still be hope after launch with DLC. In fact, PlayStation has already revealed the first set of DLC that will be coming to the game early next year.

Two new PlayStation IPs from 2012 will be represented in the first DLC – Kat from the PlayStation Vita exclusive Gravity Rush and Emmett Graves from the PS3’s hybrid shooter, Starhawk. Both characters will come complete with full story modes and rivalries. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed that they are rivals, one must assume they will be since they’ll be the first set of DLC coming out together. What’s more, they will be absolutely free to download in the first two weeks that they become available.

Emmett’s move set reflects his weapon use from Starhawk in addition to the “build-and-battle” system where he can call down help from above. On the other hand, Kat’s playstyle will make use of her unique ability to shift gravity and in turn she will have quite a bit of aerial assaults.

These two DLC characters will be made available in “early 2013” but according to SuperBot, still have a bit of work to be done before we can actually see them in action. The fine folks over at SuperBot also confirmed that more DLC characters will be coming and the possibility of new stages as well.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale launches on PlayStation 3 and Vita November 20, 2012.
