Industry Legend Shinji Mikami and Bethesda Tease Project Codenamed 'Zwei'

For those of you who do not know, Shinji Mikami is the man credited for creating the Resident Evil (Biohazard) series along with other major Capcom franchises (Ace Attorney, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry). Yeah, he’s kind of a big deal. So when Bethesda Softworks revealed tonight that his new studio, Tango Gameworks under the ZeniMax umbrella (owner of Bethesda), is working on a ‘survival horror’ game under the codename ‘Zwei’, gamers have a reason to get excited. Not much is known about this project other than its genre and all we have to go on right now is this lone image of some conceptual environmental art that might represent what to expect in the game. According to the press release, Shinji Mikami is and the Tango team aim to make a game that is “the realization of *pure* survival horror, an experience which he defines as one that pushes the limits of fear and exhilaration.”

“A true ‘survival horror’ game is one in which the player confronts and overcomes fear,” says Shinji Mikami, president and creative director for Tango Gameworks. “I’ve found my focus and once again I’m striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured.”
