Square-Enix Reveals: Sleeping Dogs

Square Enix revealed today its new game, Sleeping Dogs (previously Activision’s True Crime: Hong Kong – You know, one of the games they canned last year?), an open-world cop drama set in the city of Hong Kong. The game is still being developed by United Front Games in collaboration with Square Enix London Studios. Sleeping Dogs will be available in the second half of 2012 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

While there are noticeable changes to what was originally, True Crime: Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs stays along the same lines and puts players into the role of undercover cop Wei Shen, tasked with taking down a criminal organisation, the Hong Kong Triads, from the inside. Players will be see an inedible story unfold of loyalty and betrayal where Wei begins to question his own motives as he is sucked in deeper than he could ever imagine.

Along with gun battles, Sleeping Dogs will allow the player to perform an extensive set of martial arts moves, taking on numerous opponents and perform bone-crunching kicks and combos, counters and a cinematic set of environmental takedowns making use of countless real-world items from circular saws to phone booths, incinerators to refrigerator doors.

Check out the screens and new live action trailer for the game which is a homage to Hong Kong action flicks:
